How to Wear Activewear As Everyday Wear

How to Wear Activewear As Everyday Wear

There are many times that I just got done working out and I simply don’t have time to change out of my gym clothes. While you should try to get out of sweaty gym clothes as soon as possible, sometimes that time isn’t for a while and you don’t want to look too much like you just came from the gym (because you have a business meeting or something else that requires less casual clothes). Still, other times you just want to be super comfy or you just love your activewear that much. I admit, I was stoked when “messy gym hair, don’t care” became a thing and I could just wear some activewear pieces out and be trendy at the same time. If you are wanting to incorporate your gym style with street style, here are some great tips on how to wear activewear as everyday wear.

Take your activewear camping or hiking with you- We often think we need specific grubby clothes for camping, but in actuality, activewear is almost the perfect clothing choice for camping. It is moisture wicking so it can help you stay dryer (or dry faster) should a rainstorm hit while outdoors and it is ultra comfortable and easy to layer.

Wear some pieces you love, layered- You don’t have to feel like you should only wear complete outfits away from the gym when you pair a great hoodie or a cute tank with a pair of jeans or shorts.

Use activewear leggings the same way you use regular leggings- I often wear my activewear leggings just as I do my other fashion leggings. I love how activewear leggings come in fun patterns, too, and I mix them up for a funky style. I use solid color tunic tops and pair them with some fun leggings for a nice pop of pattern and color and this is super trendy right now, too!

Wear bike shorts under skirts to prevent chafing- One of the best ways I control chafing that happens when I wear my favorite summer staple of maxi skirts is by wearing bike shorts under them. And, in the fall, I put activewear leggings underneath to add a layer of comfort and warmth before I give them up for the season.

Buy versatile pieces- When I buy activewear, I try to find styles that could easily be worn in and out of the gym. I like to layer stuff, so I often buy sheer tops and layer them over a bright tank with a fun strap design.

Buy matching sets- If you buy a complete matching set, you should have no problem pulling off an activewear outfit as a ‘regular’ one. To do this, I buy a pullover or a hoodie, some fun leggings or capris and a tank or top all in matching colors. This is super easy with Rainbeau Curves because almost all their stuff is so easy to match up.

Turn yoga pants into dressy pants- With the right fit, yoga pants can make great dress pants. Just wear them with a nice top and a jacket that matches and you have a great work outfit that can double as a gym outfit by just changing your top and removing the jacket.

Take a workout outfit and add accessories for a more casual one- As you can see from the images in this article, I often just take an entire workout outfit and just turn it casual by taking off my running shoes and adding a kimono or a fun pair of flats.
